Reverse engineering is the process of precise dimensional scanning, metallurgical analysis and structural deconstruction used to recreate, repair or upgrade critical mechanical components without the original manufacturer's drawings.
Using high-accuracy 3D laser scanning and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), engineers capture the exact geometry of an existing component and build a functional 3D CAD model from it. That model allows obsolete, damaged or long-lead-time parts — API pump impellers, turbine blades, custom mechanical seals — to be manufactured with improved material specifications, tighter tolerances and optimised performance.
For plants in Pakistan running equipment that is thirty or forty years old, reverse engineering is frequently the difference between a component that arrives in weeks and one that is simply unobtainable.
